HARMAN’s BSS Audio Soundweb London BLU-806 and BLU-326 Dante™ Processors Now Shipping

BSS_BLU-806_FrontORLANDO, Florida – HARMAN’s BSS Audio today announced its Soundweb London BLU-806 and BLU-326 with Audinate’s Dante-enabled processors are now shipping. The BLU-806 and BLU-326 offer the same configurable signal processing features as the existing BLU-800 and 320 devices with the addition of Audinate’s Dante digital media networking capabilities.

The BLU-806 and BLU-326 devices allow 64 incoming Dante channels and 64 outgoing Dante channels. Both new devices offer configurable inputs and outputs, compatibility with all Soundweb London input and output card options, logic processing capability, the 256-channel Soundweb London digital audio bus and GPIO.

Each device offers up to 16 inputs and outputs, configurable in banks of four. Card options include analog mic/line inputs with Phantom Power, analog outputs, digital inputs (AES/EBU and S/PDIF), digital outputs, the Soundweb London AEC Input Card and the Soundweb London Telephone Hybrid Card.

“System designers using Soundweb London now have the choice of AVB, CobraNet or Dante as the digital audio transport, using BLU link to complement the application-specific transports. Most importantly, system designers are able to deploy each of these transports using a single software application,” stated Iain Gregory, Market Manager for Installed Sound at HARMAN Signal Processing.

“During the past two years, the growth of Dante has been moving at a phenomenal pace and we are thrilled that BSS has developed their Dante solution so quickly,” stated Lee Ellison, CEO of Audinate. “Since BSS announced the adoption of Dante last year, the commercial installation community has been extremely positive in anticipation of this release of the Soundweb London platform with Dante.”

The BLU-806 and BLU-326 along with the other members of the Soundweb London family provide the building blocks of the perfectly tailored system solution.

BLU-LINK_SI-34ORLANDO, Florida – Providing enhanced networking capabilities for a host of HARMAN products, BSS Audio today announced the introduction of its BLU-Si BLU link Card, which enables Soundcraft Si Expression, Si Performer and Si Compact mixing consoles to be connected to HARMAN components equipped with a BLU link interface to provide expanded audio distribution, mixing and control capabilities. The BLU-Si card is a 32 x 32-channel interface that connects to a BLU link digital audio bus via a standard Cat 5e cable.

The BSS BLU-Si card works with these Soundcraft mixing consoles and a wide variety of HARMAN products equipped with BLU link including the dbx PMC16 Personal Monitor Controller, BLU link-enabled BSS Audio Soundweb London devices, and Crown PIP-BLU Programmable Input Processor (PIP) amplifier input/control module.

“The BLU-Si provides an easy way to greatly expand the capabilities of a Soundcraft Si Expression, Si Performer or Si Compact console, without the need to connect the console to a network,” said Noel Larson, Market Manager for Portable PA, Tour and Recording at HARMAN Signal Processing. “For example, a Soundcraft Si Expression or Si Compact 16 can be connected to a dbx PMC16 Personal Monitor Controller to create a highly cost-effective mixing and monitoring system that gives the sound person up to 32 channels to work with and enables everyone in the band to dial in their own personal onstage monitor mix using any combination of up to 16 of these available 32 channels.”

The BSS BLU link is a low-latency, fault-tolerant digital audio bus of 256 channels that can be connected to compatible BLU link-enabled devices using a Cat 5e cable of up to 328 feet in length. The BLU-Si can select sequential banks of 32 BLU link channels and transmits and receives from any BLU link-enabled product.

The BSS BLU-Si BLU link Card for Soundcraft Si Series mixing consoles will be available in June 2013 at a suggested retail price of $749.95.

HARMAN’s BSS Audio Debuts Its Soundweb London BLU-GPX Network-Controlled GPIO Expander

BSS-BLU_GPX-34ORLANDO, Florida – HARMAN’s BSS Audio today announced the introduction of its Soundweb London BLU-GPX GPIO Expander, a versatile network-controlled GPIO (General Purpose Input/Output) component that facilitates the addition of Control Inputs, Logic Outputs and relays to systems that require extra analog control and interfacing capability. The BLU-GPX complements existing Soundweb London devices but can also be used as a standalone device, providing comprehensive logic processing, in addition to GPIO integration.

“The BSS BLU-GPX offers system designers a versatile new tool for networked audio/video integration,” said Iain Gregory, Market Manager, Installed Sound, HARMAN Signal Processing. “Whether providing additional Control Inputs for analog control of Soundweb London 100 Series systems using BLU-BIB and BLU-BOB devices for I/O expansion or facilitating sophisticated integration of disparate systems in large-scale applications, the BLU-GPX represents an affordable and straightforward solution.”

The BSS Soundweb London BLU-GPX features 36 Control Inputs (GPI), 23 Logic Outputs (GPO) and eight integrated NC/NO (Normally Closed / Normally Open) relay outputs. The BLU-GPX includes two PoE Power-over-Ethernet ports for communication and primary power, a 12VDC power connector for backup power, an RS-232 port for compatibility with serial devices and 47 Common (ground) connections. This large number of ground connections allows simplified wiring to and from external equipment.

The BLU-GPX is fully configurable using HARMAN’s HiQnet London Architect™ configuration, control and monitoring software. It features the same extensive selection of Logic Processing Objects as the other Soundweb London processors and offers the same drag-and-drop style of programming. The BLU-GPX has 48 user-configurable front-panel multicolor LEDs, enabling users to customize LED status indication for each application. In addition to LED status indication, custom text can be written to the front panel LCD by the logic system to give, for example, more detailed status information. An internal buzzer can also be sounded by the logic system to give audible indication of particular statuses.

The BSS Soundweb London BLU-GPX GPIO Expander is available now.
