Fairlight goes Solo with mouse

Sydney, Australia, Tuesday, April 10th, 2012 – Fairlight announced today the release of Solo, a new mouse-based editing option for its Dream software.

Extending upon Fairlight’s traditional customised control surface, Fairlight’s release of Solo continues the company strategy to broaden its product range.

“The release of Solo is in direct response to customer requests to extend the functionality of existing Fairlight systems and providing a lower cost prep-station utility while preserving the features and reliability of the Dream software”  says CTO, Tino Fibaek.

Fibaek notes that Solo’s operation will be familiar to users of other audio production systems, allowing them an easy migration path to Fairlight technology. GUI options include dual-screen operation with dedicated editing and mixing, or a single integrated screen with access to all vital production tools including editing, video, database, mixing and monitor controls.

Solo software is supplied with the Fairlight FPGA based CC-1 engine and SX range of I/O cards starting from around $4,000, and can be optioned up to 192 tracks.

Fibaek said “Solo will lower the entry price for customers to the world of Fairlight technology, with the guarantee that Fairlight’s popular Xynergi controller or EVO production console can be added with no cost penalty at a later date”.

Solo will debut at NAB 2012 on the Fairlight booth, SL14305.

Hitachi Introduces the CP-RX94 Ultra-Portable 3LCD Projector

CHULA VISTA, California, November 29, 2011 — Hitachi America, Ltd., Digital Media Division, Business Solutions Group today introduced its CP-RX94 3LCD projector. Weighing just five pounds and measuring 12 x 8.7 x 3 inches, the new CP-RX94 is ideal for business, educational and on-the-go applications and combines ease of operation with a host of useful features including HDMI connectivity.

The CP-RX94 includes Hitachi’s exclusive Intelligent Eco feature, which automatically changes the brightness of the lamp according to the brightness level of the image. The lamp becomes brighter when the input signal is high and dimmer when the input signal is low, saving lamp life and energy. The CP-RX94 delivers 2,600 ANSI lumens brightness with XGA resolution. Though highly compact, the CP-RX94 can project images up to 300 inches (diagonal measurement).

The Hitachi CP-RX94 provides a wealth of convenience features. Its exclusive Input Source Naming allows users to name their input sources as they choose, instead of being restricted to factory default settings. A Template function can project four different types of line templates that make it easier to write on a whiteboard. In addition, the projector’s Whiteboard Mode limits the peak white output when used with a whiteboard, to help reduce eyestrain.

Two customizable MyButton/MySource buttons on the remote control let users create shortcuts for any projector command. For connection to a document camera, MySource allows users to add a third Document Camera source button. The remote offers selectable IR frequency operation to avoid interference.

Additional features include a built-in speaker, closed captioning capability, a security sensor that recognizes when the projector has been moved and disables it until its PIN Lock code is entered and more. The CP-RX94 includes an HDMI® input, an RGB computer input, an RGB input/monitor output, S-Video and composite video inputs as well as RCA audio inputs and outputs. The CP-RX94 also has built-in front air exhaust, designed to direct warm air away from the audience.

VIENNA, Austria – With 12 halls ranging in total seating capacity from 130 to 586, connected with outdated analog wireless capabilities, Atea Audio Visuell Kommunikation (AVK) of Sweden installed a complete digital HARMAN AKG DMS 700 wireless system in one of Sweden’s largest education facilities, Stockholm University.  Combining a long-time relationship between supplier Septon Electronic AB and Stockholm University and RF frequency shifts in Sweden, the upgraded solution was perfectly coordinated, timed and implemented for 2011 sessions.

Exclusively distributing HARMAN professional brands in Sweden, Septon and Atea installed a future-proof digital system that was easy to handle and offered stable transmission ability. Atea installed 48 channels of DMS 700 digital wireless, all networked through HARMAN Professional’s HiQnet System Architect™.

“The Stockholm University Support and Maintenance Department laid out the challenges clearly from the beginning: a future-proof, simple-to-use and logistically sound solution was vital to the university,” stated Sales Manager Stefan Eriksson, Atea.  “With the AKG DMS 700, we were able to provide the complete solution and the encryption possibilities added even more value, securing the wireless transmission within the halls.”

For speech reinforcement throughout the lecture rooms, the self-operated DPT 700 body packs were ideal for the professors in the halls, while the DHT 700 handheld transmitters were required for the reception desks throughout the university.

“The lecturers have adapted quickly and easily to their new digital world,” continued Eriksson.  “Any inherent fears of adapting to the new technology were quickly resolved and the school year has proceeded with little to no technical issues.”

Cambridge Rindge and Latin School Installs 90 Hitachi CP-DW10N 3LCD Projectors

Hitachi America, Ltd. Digital Media Division, Business Solutions Group today announced that Cambridge Rindge and Latin School has installed 90 Hitachi CP-DW10N 3LCD projectors, sold and installed by AdTech Systems of Sudbury, Massachusetts. The CP-DW10N short-throw projector offers a host of features designed for the education market, and is ideal for presentations on interactive whiteboards.

Located in Cambridge, Massachusetts, the Cambridge Rindge and Latin School (CRLS) is a high school divided into four Learning Communities designed to promote high levels of learning and achievement for all students. The mission of Cambridge Rindge and Latin School is to provide high-quality education to every student through rigorous, comprehensive and personalized teaching and learning in a nurturing and respectful environment.

CRLS offers an innovative approach to education, such as its 4 x 4 Block Schedule with four 84-minute periods each day and two 90-day semesters each year. The school prides itself on its state-of-the-art facilities for a wide range of career and technical programs, and this year the school decided to upgrade its presentation facilities to include video projectors.

AdTech Systems of Sudbury, Massachusetts, installed the CP-DW10N projectors in every classroom at the school. “We needed a high-quality, short-throw projector with HDMI connectivity, and after looking at the available options, the CP-DW10N met our requirements,” said Jason Graham, Senior Technician at CRLS.

Graham noted, “I was pleasantly surprised by some of the projector’s useful features, such as the audio pass-through function that lets you listen to audio through external speakers, even when the projector is on standby.” Graham concluded, “The projectors have performed very well and are a useful teaching tool that enhances our students’ learning experience.”

The Hitachi CP-DW10N features a short-throw distance of 37 inches and can project a diagonal image of up to 84 inches, making it ideal for smaller rooms and interactive whiteboard applications. It can be controlled via a LAN network connection, providing the ability to network, control and maintain the projector from a remote location. The network functionality can control multiple projectors in different rooms, and monitor parameters such as remaining lamp life.

The CP-DW10N offers WXGA (1280 x 800) native resolution and a 16:10 aspect ratio for compatibility with widescreen laptop computers. It includes a Template function that displays lines, circles or a world map, making it easier to write on an interactive whiteboard; MyMemory, MyText, MySource and MyScreen buttons for fast remote-control access to frequently used functions and sources; a Messenger function that transmits text data from a remote computer via the network connection for school notifications and news; a built-in audio amplifier and many additional features.
