Hitachi Rated Top Professional Projector Brand In 2012 PMA Dealer Survey

CHULA VISTA, California, February 5, 2013 — Hitachi America, Ltd., Digital Media Division, Business Solutions Group today announced that Hitachi has been named the top-rated projector brand for dealers serving the professional market in a survey conducted by Pacific Media Associates (PMA). Hitachi earned the number-one ranking based on its overall composite rating in the 15th survey of North American projector dealers conducted by PMA, the worldwide market information experts on front projectors.

The survey took place in November and December 2012 and asked dealers to rate 21 aspects of marketing support, product attributes and after-sale support. Quality and reliability were rated to be the most important factors for dealers when choosing a projector manufacturer.

“We are incredibly proud to be recognized as the top projector brand in the professional market by PMA’s survey,” said Darla Achey, Marketing Manager, Hitachi America, Ltd., Digital Media Division, Business Solutions Group. “It’s especially important to us because the rating reflects the opinion of dealers who have hands-on experience with every brand of projector in the field and know how they perform in the real world where the rubber meets the road.”

In addition to receiving the top overall composite manufacturer rating, Hitachi earned the number-one scores in the top five sub-composite rankings for Marketing Support, Products and After-Sale Support and the number-one score in the Top Five Rankings for Leading Overall Attributes in the Return/Repair Programs category.

CHULA VISTA, California, January 22, 2013 — With over 20 years of outdoor advertising experience, Beaverton, Oregon agency All Points Media has established itself as a leader in the alternative media segment. They know how to deliver a company’s message to where it’s most effective – literally, with their fleet of AdVan mobile advertising vehicles.

AdVan trucks project full-motion video images up to 12 feet wide by six feet high onto the sides of the vehicle. The AdVans are also equipped with surround sound audio systems to deliver theater-quality messages to consumers. The video is viewable even in direct sunlight, thanks to Hitachi’s high-brightness 3LCD projectors.

“We take our AdVan trucks nationwide for everything from huge corporate events and conventions to store openings and campaigns for local businesses where we’ll drive an AdVan around town,” said Alex Brochu, AdVan Operations Manager for All Points Media. “Our AdVans can be seen by as many as 100,000 people each day.”

“We have seven projectors in each truck – mostly CP-X8160s but we also have some Hitachi CP-X807 and CP-X1250 models. We equip the projectors with a 7:1 short throw lens to accommodate the confines of the truck’s interior and use a special mounting system we designed. We can use virtually any input source, including DVD, game systems, live and satellite video feeds, flash drives and more, and show multiple videos on different screens.”

“We chose the Hitachi CP-X8160 primarily because of its high 6,000 lumens brightness, and the image quality is excellent. We’re one of the only companies that can provide daylight-readable, full-motion video. With some other projectors, at certain angles you’ll see nothing but a black screen but with the CP-X8160 projectors you can see bright, clear images from any angle, at any time of day and at any level of sunlight.”

“These projectors eliminated a lot of headaches for us,” Brochu continued. “Because we take the trucks nationwide, the projectors can get bumped around a little in their mountings and we sometimes have to make adjustments. The flexibility of these projectors in dialing in a perfect image is amazing – using Hitachi’s Perfect Fit 2 feature, it’s easy to bring in corners, expand or reduce the size of the images or do whatever we need to get the image exactly right.”

“A lot of the events we do require interactivity and multiple screens; for example, where a number of participants play video games. We used to have to use video splitters to get multiple images at once but with the Hitachi CP-X8160 all I have to do is put a USB drive into one or more of the projectors, use my main video source for the rest of the and I’m off and running in no time.” The CP-X8160 accepts a wide variety of inputs including HDMI, component, S-Video and composite video, computer, USB and even wireless. This versatility really comes in handy in the field.”

“We even did an event for a new SSX snowboarding video game where we’d drive around with the video game playing on the screens and had a snow machine on top blowing snow around. The visual impact provided by the projectors and the AdVan was fantastic, and attracted a lot of attention. The client and especially the gamers loved it.”

CHULA VISTA, California, December 5, 2012 — Hitachi America, Ltd., Digital Media
Division, Business Solutions Group now offers its CP-AW252WN ultra short throw 3LCD projector, which combines an array of versatile features including a new Projector Quick Connection iOS App, a Projector Cloning function and in a compact, cost-effective design. The networkable, ultraportable CP-AW252WN can project a 100-inch (diagonal) image at just 15.4 inches from the front of the projector, making it ideal for use in educational and commercial applications where space is limited yet where bright, clear image quality is required.

The new Projector Quick Connection iOS App enables users to monitor and control multiple Hitachi projectors from a single Apple® iOS device. The app provides access to the projector’s Projector, Contents, Control and Settings menus.

The CP-AW252WN includes a new Projector Cloning function: a Hitachi convenience feature that lets users copy the settings data from one projector and transfer it to other projectors via USB memory. The Projector Cloning function can copy and transfer almost all projector settings such as gamma and keystone.

The CP-AW252WN’s ultra short throw lens design enables it to be mounted close to a projection screen or whiteboard, which prevents obstructed images and shadows and avoids light shining in the presenter’s eyes. The projector can also be used with an optional tabletop stand that enables images to be projected directly onto a tabletop—ideal for small group presentations or where space is at a premium. Hitachi’s Perfect Fit 2 image adjustment system corrects for any geometric image distortion and precisely fits the images to the screen or tabletop.

The CP-AW252WN features wired and wireless network connectivity via its RJ-45 Ethernet jack or optional USB wireless adapter. Once connected, content can be sent directly from a computer to the projector via the network. In addition, control monitoring and maintenance can be facilitated via the LAN. Hitachi’s PJMessenger function allows text messages and audio alerts to be sent on all networked projectors throughout an entire campus or facility.

The projector offers WXGA (1280 x 800) resolution with 2,500 ANSI lumens white/color output and a 4000:1 contrast ratio, and includes a wide selection of inputs and outputs including HDMI, S-Video and composite video inputs, USB and RGB computer connections, RCA, stereo mini-jack and microphone audio inputs, and audio and video monitor outputs. In addition, an RS-232C port enables integrated system control when used with Crestron® and AMX® automation systems.

The CP-AW252WN provides a number of useful convenience features. Its PC-Less Presentation function enables use of the projector without a computer, by means of a USB stick or other storage device. The projector offers Hitachi’s exclusive Template function which projects four types of line templates, making it easier to write on a whiteboard. In addition, the optional TB-1 wireless drawing tablet and pen enable users to write over the projected image for more engaging presentations.

Hitachi’s ImageCare technology is a lamp power control function that combines optimal picture performance with maximum energy savings by decreasing energy usage, improving contrast ratio and lengthening lamp life. The results are decreased maintenance cost and a lower total cost of ownership.

Additional useful features include an Input Source Naming feature that lets the user customize the names of input sources instead of using the factory default settings. The projector’s power saving Eco standby mode enables up to 5,000 hours of lamp life, and an improved hybrid filter provides up to 4,000 hours between maintenance.
