HARMAN’s DigiTech Teams Up With Adrian Belew to Bring You The Impossible Pedal for the iStomp

ImpossiblePedalFRANKFURT, Germany – At Musikmesse 2013, HARMAN’s DigiTech is proud to announce its first in a line of iStomp Signature Artist e-pedals, joining forces with guitarist extraordinaire Adrian Belew to debut The Impossible Pedal. The e-pedal lives up to its name, giving guitarists the ability to play impossible guitar riffs that you would never think to play.

Adrian Belew needs little introduction as a beyond-cutting-edge musician who has smashed sonic boundaries with artists including David Bowie, King Crimson, Talking Heads, Frank Zappa, Nine Inch Nails and others, and over a diverse solo career spanning nearly 20 solo albums. The cries, grunts, squeals, industrial noises, twang-bar-king whammy effects and other otherworldly sounds he can coax out of his instrument make him one of the world’s most uncategorizable guitarists.

Available exclusively as an e-pedal for the iStomp, The Impossible Pedal uses two pitch shifters that can be turned on and off in sequence, and guitarists can abruptly “jump” between two intervals by stepping on the iStomp footswitch as they play. “I have been using the DigiTech HarmonyMan for years to create this unique effect,” said Belew. “With The Impossible Pedal in my iStomp I can now do things I never could before!”

Two knobs on The Impossible Pedal set the two different pitch intervals and two knobs select whether the pitches shift up or down over a two octave range. By stepping on the footswitch, the note played by the guitarist alternates between the standard (unaffected) pitch and the two pitch-shifted voices, to create melodic passages that extend beyond physical human ability. Even its iStomp icon is an impossible optical illusion that has to be seen to be disbelieved.

“Adrian Belew is a fearless innovator and his e-pedal ideas for the iStomp are a perfect match for our vision,” noted DigiTech Artist Relations Manager Tom Cram.

The DigiTech iStomp is a new concept in guitar stompboxes that allows musicians to turn the iStomp into any pedal available in the Stomp Shop online pedal store. Offering almost limitless sonic possibilities, the iStomp connects to an Apple® IOS device where musicians can use the free Stomp Shop app to load it with the e-pedal of their choice. The Stomp Shop app comes with ten of the most popular pedals and gives access to more than 40 additional e-pedals they can browse, try out and purchase. More e-pedals are added on a regular basis.

GTP and Mitsubishi Electric Capture Excitement and Smiles at Hersheypark

With nearly 3 million thrill-seekers attending Hersheypark every year, the chocolate capital of the world has become one of America’s favorite theme parks. It is here in Hershey, Pennsylvania, that Mitsubishi Electric Visual Solutions America, Inc. and GTP Corporation offer guests timeless mementos – high quality, long lasting photographs taken during thrill rides or arm-in-arm with Hershey characters around the park – all shot and printed right on the spot within seconds. In doing so, GTP capitalizes on a compelling business opportunity that is only made possible by the trusted performance and reliability of Mitsubishi printers.

“These printers are absolute workhorses,” said Bob Hench, president of GTP Corp. “Not every printer could perform with such consistency and reliability in this environment. We have between 30 and 35 Mitsubishi printers running in Hersheypark at any one time… they’re literally powering our operation every moment they’re on. They’ve supported our business for almost 20 years, enabling us to concentrate on the artistry of the shots and the number of customers we can serve.”

The Mitsubishi printers are positioned at 12 installations around the park, with two 5×7 and two 4×6 printers at most locations. Two of these stations serve as bases for the roving photographers at the front gate and in the middle of the park, the remainder located at the end of each major thrill ride.

Even with dozens of high-speed, high-volume Mitsubishi printers running constantly throughout the park, GTP has little to worry about when it comes to service and support for each station. The partnership between GTP and Mitsubishi began in 1994, and has consistently gained in strength with each model upgrade. Over the years, Mitsubishi’s printers have made huge strides in speed and print quality while maintaining a reputation for reliability and low operating costs. This is backed by Mitsubishi’s exclusive Express Replacement Assistance (ERA) warranty program, offering technical support in addition to overnight shipping of replacement units.

“When we first started using photo printers at Hersheypark we used another manufacturer’s equipment. We switched to Mitsubishi several years ago because the reliability of the product and the customer service were far better,” noted Hench. “Our Mitsubishi printers are the best we’ve ever used in terms of cost versus performance and print quality. It’s an essential cog in our business engine!”

Because of the simplicity and reliability of the Mitsubishi printers, GTP hires local high school students during the busy summer months to run all of the photo stands at Hersheypark, interact with customers, operate printing stations, and replenish the photo media and ink when necessary. Even with a dedicated technical center located in Hershey, Hench says he rarely has to request support thanks to the smooth-running, Mitsubishi printers.

According to Hench, most of their business comes from the ride photos; as soon as people come off an exciting ride and see their picture, the chance of an impulse buy is very high. Using GTP’s park-wide system enables Hench to see which rides most people are buying, so they can concentrate efforts accordingly.

“Ride photos are full of spontaneity and reflex reactions which make them a lot fun to take. When people see their photos after conquering a roller coaster, everybody laughs and has a good time – it goes above and beyond just getting a souvenir,” said Hench. “It really adds to the full experience; you’re actually bringing home more than just a memory – you’re bringing home proof!”

“It’s wonderful to see such a strong relationship with GTP continue to grow and develop,” said Brandon Tarnow, Brand Manager, Mitsubishi Electric Visual Solutions America. “We’re incredibly proud of our comprehensive customer support and high quality product. Our goal is to keep our customers satisfied with profitable, distinctive products that keep their businesses thriving.”

IRVINE, Calif. – September 25, 2012 – Steve Immer, owner and president of Ingenuity LLC and a specialist in on-site, corporate event photo printing, recently completed his largest professional photography job ever. He provided photographic services for a major telecommunications corporation’s annual bi-coastal event honoring 900 of its top performing executives. Over a four-week period, Steve and his team photographed every moment of the festivities at two world-class resorts in California and Florida, presenting each executive with customized, photo memories.

“We quickly realized the scale of this assignment would be a major challenge on the technological and organizational front,” said Immer. “Our solution had to be intuitive, easy to use, and operationally rock solid. It required a high-quality, high-volume, photo-printing solution that would run continually, with minimal down time and no service issues. We also knew there would be a huge volume of photo prints and we’d be limited by manpower and space constraints at each resort.”

Steve and his team designed and manufactured a portable, customizable, self-serve photo print station using the Mitsubishi Electric CP-9550DW professional photo printer. “At Ingenuity, we always use Mitsubishi Electric photo printers because they produce outstanding prints and have a proven record of reliability. The CP-9550DW printers performed flawlessly, turning out stacks of brilliant photos allowing us to concentrate on our photography.”

Each print station had a CP-9550DW photo printer in a tabletop cabinet, customized with the client’s corporate logo and event name. Throughout the day, guests used the touch screen monitor to choose and print their own photos from the thousands of event images loaded into the print station. The print station system consisted of a simple laptop computer, operated on customized software. This controlled the network of six Mitsubishi Electric CP-9550DW professional photo printers while monitoring the photo count for each guest using an employee number as an identifier.

Over the course of the event, the CP-9550DW printers delivered more than 24,000 high-quality photos to the executives.

“We designed an efficient, reliable, photo printing solution for this event and in the process, managed to create a new business tool we’ll use to expand our operations,” said Steve. “We knew we had a great solution when we saw people waiting in line at the photo print stations. The response was incredible.”

“We have so many Mitsubishi Electric owners going above and beyond, using our printers in the most demanding situations,” said Brandon Tarnow, IPD brand manager, Mitsubishi Electric Visual Solutions America. “Instant photos on-site, speed, quality, reliability, performance – Mitsubishi photo printers are the professional photo printing solution for almost any venue or event.”
