Traka Showcases Its Latest Standalone Touch Screen Key Management System At ISC West 2013

Traka Touch 3-4 closed newLAS VEGAS, Nevada, April 10, 2013 — Traka, an ASSA ABLOY Group company, is showcasing its Traka Touch, the intelligent touch screen key management system, at ISC West 2013.

Traka Touch is a standalone key management solution that operates independently of a company’s IT system via an embedded Windows software and SQL Server database. No server is required to maintain its database. The system is managed via the full color 7-inch multi-language touch screen on the front panel, from the initial administrative setup of users and keys to the management of day-to-day user access.

As with conventional Traka systems the Touch gives the administrator control over the access levels for each particular user. To gain access to keys, users must identify themselves using either a PIN code, swipe card or biometric recognition. LEDs indicate which keys a user can and can’t take when they access the cabinet.

The Traka Touch provides a real time audit of all key transactions and the unit’s solid state memory can store up to 250,000 events. Administrators can view a report of all key usage and search for a key that is “out of system” via the touch screen.

“The new Traka Touch is a secure, cost-effective means of ensuring that only authorized individuals have access to keys, while making them readily available to authorized users 24/7. It is not always feasible for organisations to allow access to IT infrastructures and networks and Traka Touch addresses this” said Danny Garrido, General Manager, Traka US.

Yale Launches E-Commerce Site for Residential Locks and Hardware

NEW HAVEN, CT, April 2, 2013 – Yale residential locks and hardware are now available direct to consumers with the launch of Yale2You.com, a new e-commerce site from Yale Locks & Hardware that offers consumers the opportunity to shop a variety of Yale residential products and provides tools to help consumers plan projects.

The new site, which launched today, makes it easy for consumers to find the Yale product that’s right for their needs, whether embarking on a remodeling project or looking for the perfect item to complement their existing décor.

On Yale2You.com consumers can browse the Yale line of keyless locks, deadbolts, knobs, handlesets, levers and accessories. To easily find which product best meets their needs, consumers can search by product type or function, and filter results by finish – polished brass, satin nickel or oil rubbed bronze permanent.

But the site offers more than just shopping. Yale2You.com also offers design inspiration. The site allows consumers to create a collage or mosaic working with Yale-provided images of products, artwork, décor items, colors, and shots of home interiors and exteriors. What’s more, consumers can upload their own images and mix and match Yale products to see how it all comes together. Yale2You.com will also soon offer a Project Planner to help the consumer inventory the spaces and doors in their home so they know exactly what needs to be ordered.

“In creating Yale2You.com, we wanted to offer consumers the opportunity to buy hardware online from a trusted brand, and at the same time make it easy and fun for them to find and buy the items they need to complement what might have been provided by their contractor or integrator, or what they purchased at their local retailer,” said Jason Williams, General Manager of Yale Residential.

Because the Yale product line includes a wide variety of products, collections and finishes, a key objective in designing the site was to make it easy for consumers to navigate and find exactly what they needed. Yale tapped IdentityMine, an interactive design, software development and user experience company.

“IdentityMine has had an amazing experience working with the Yale Locks and Hardware team to develop their first ever e-commerce site,” said Mark Brown, IdentityMine CEO. “We’re especially proud of the site’s clean design aesthetic and intuitive user experience. It’s as visually stunning as the products that are featured. We worked very closely with the Yale Locks team to design a site that would simplify the shopping experience for what is a very comprehensive line of household lock and key products.”

ABLOY Introduces ABLOY PROTEC2 Ultimate High-Security Locking System at ASIS 2012

PHILADELPHIA, PA, September 10, 2012 — ABLOY today announced the introduction of its ABLOY PROTEC2 locking system, designed to provide the highest level of security in sensitive private, commercial and government applications.

“The ABLOY PROTEC2 is a rotating disc cylinder keying system that incorporates a number of newly developed and patented features for the ultimate in high-security protection,” said Corbin Anderson, National Sales Manager, ABLOY Security.

ABLOY PROTEC2 locks feature a new disc controller and key design. The disc controller in the lock requires a moving element in the key to mate with the cylinder internally in order to function, making it nearly impossible to copy a key. The cylinders are designed to be virtually pick proof and bump proof, with a patented DBS Disc Blocking System that prevents attempts to manipulate the cylinder’s internal discs.

Durability is further enhanced by a new, patented AWS Anti-Wear System that prolongs the life cycles of the locks and keys even in extensive use applications. The locks are designed without springs or pins to provide reliable operation even in severe environments.

In an ABLOY PROTEC2 locking system, different products and styles of locks can be keyed into the same master key system, enabling all products to be operated with just a single key. This simplifies a company’s locking system and key management. More than 1.97 billion different key combinations are available, enabling the user to create extensive master key systems that accommodate their exact specifications.

ABLOY PROTEC2 can be integrated with ABLOY’s electromechanical CLIQ™ technology, which integrates electronic identification with mechanical functionality for an added level of security. The chips in the cylinders and the keys use encrypted communication and can record an audit trail of their use. Adding and denying access rights to any lock and key is easily accomplished using ABLOY’s exclusive software.

ABLOY PROTEC2 locking system products are designed and manufactured to meet or exceed the requirements of several national, international and customer-specific standards. They are ideal for a wide-range of government installations, factories, schools and universities, hospitals and healthcare facilities and many other critical applications.

SARGENT 11-Line Locks Prevent Break-Ins At Modesto City Schools

MODESTO CITY, CA, July 30, 2012 – Like any other school district, keeping its students and facilities secure is a primary concern for Modesto City Schools in Modesto, California. However, one of their school sites was beset with frequent break-ins and vandalism. As often as every week, the thieves would smash the outside entrance lock off one of the doors to gain entry. School officials were constantly replacing the locks, and the vandals repeatedly destroyed them.

To solve the problem of their inadequate locks at school sites, about three years ago Modesto City Schools called in their local ASSA ABLOY Door Security Solutions (AADSS) team for help. The AADSS specialists recommended the SARGENT 11-Line extra heavy-duty classroom lever lockset with patented T-Zone construction and provided a sample for the district to try.

The very next week after the lock was installed, burglars tried to smash it using a metal chain link fence pole that still had its concrete base attached. When the school district’s head of security went to the site, he found broken pieces of concrete all around the door and several dings and dents on the handle and the body of the lockset. Fearing the worst, the security chief tried the lock – which had survived the beating by the makeshift Thor’s hammer. It was still locked, and he was able to open it with his key as if nothing had happened.

Modesto City Schools has ordered more than 300 11-Line locksets since then. Since moving to the SARGENT 11-Line with T-Zone construction, school officials are

extremely impressed with the security, protection and prevention of property damage the locks have provided. In fact, since the original incident at the school site the vandals have not attempted to break into that area again.

The ASSA ABLOY SARGENT 11-Line is a Grade 1 lock with true interlocking “T-Zone” construction between the cast/machined stainless steel lock body and the latch,

exceeding ANSI/BHMA A156.2 Series 4000 Grade 1 standards by a factor of 15 for unmatched durability. The 11-Line withstands over 3,000 in/lbs of force on a locked lever, which is tested to have no sag even after fifteen million cycles.

CORK, Ireland— Enabling cell phone carriers and retailers to comprehensively address new guidelines for smartphone and tablet recovery set forth by a recent FCC and CTIA initiative, leading mobile security software provider Yougetitback (YGIB) continues to offer a range of data protection and device recovery technologies for smartphones, tablets and laptops. YGIB technology is bundled by service providers and retailers into advanced warranty programs and allows mobile devices to be immediately locked down and located anywhere around the globe if lost or stolen.

The FCC and CTIA initiative addresses a major concern in the mobile market: due to the value of the device and the depth of information now typically saved on smart devices, there has been a surge in criminal activity attached to mobile devices — in some cases extending to assault and other serious crimes. This in turn has created anxiety among users, who worry about storing identity-revealing information on mobile devices.

YGIB’s offerings allow customers to completely disable and lock devices remotely, allowing the device to be returned and reactivated once discovered, which takes the FCC and CTIA initiative one step further. YGIB has many methods to track devices once they are lost or stolen, and safeguards devices from being hacked once the lockdown is activated. The YGIB program will lock down and take a photo of the criminal once the device has been reported missing. It will also alert the perpetrator through an alarm, even if the device is turned on silent.

“Enabling our retail, insurance and warranty clients to meet and exceed directives of the FCC and CTIA is a primary value of the YGIB’s offerings,” said Paul Prendergast, CEO, YGIB. “Add to this the peace of mind provided to end-users and its easy to see why warranty programs with YGIB protection and recovery modules increase attach rates, reduce churn and limit fraud.”
